In 1995 billionaire Larry L. Hillblom, one of the founders of the international courier service DHL, disappeared when his WWII seaplane crashed into the Pacific Ocean.
His death ignites a courtroom controversy as a stream of underage prostitutes from around the South Pacific come forward claiming affairs and producing heirs. Meanwhile, Hillblom’s business associates battle to keep an estate valued at a billion dollars away from them.
In the midst of this legal thriller, details emerge, a fascinating and bizarre portrait of a man, and of the contradictions and inconsistencies in his life. An unspoken parable also unfolds, of human rights, and of the power of Western affluence on underprivileged Asian poverty.
Colorful characters abound in Spraic’s documentary, as colleagues, journalists and lawyers share stories of the mysterious recluse; footage travels from the courtrooms to the sordid bars scattered across the region.
