Brennan became the CAM’s acting director in 2011 after serving as the assistant director, and as the former St. John’s Museum of Art curator and registrar of collections. She earned her M.F.A. from ECU and has been an N.C. Arts Council’s A+ Schools Program fellow since 2007.

Dedicating her life to fighting for social justice and systemic change, Sonya Bennetone-Patrick serves the National Black Leadership Caucus and NC Black Leadership Caucus in numerous leadership capacities and is the Director of the National Reparations Coalition for the Descendants of the 1898 Massacre.
