This year – of the 207 movies set to screen at the 19th annual Cucalorus Film Festival – 17 feature films and documentaries, 49 short films, and 10 music videos have Tar Heel State connections.
“State of the Slate: The Future of Film in North Carolina” – at 4 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Ballroom at Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts – will celebrate North Carolina’s rich filmmaking history and highlight current film and TV productions, including such recent hits as Marvel’s “Iron Man 3,” Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow,” and the Emmy-Award winning Showtime series “Homeland.”
Hosted by Entertainment Partners Financial Solutions and moderated by Joe Chianese, “State of the Slate” panelists will include Aaron Syrett, director of the North Carolina Film Office, Bill Vassar, executive vice president of EUE/Screen Gems Studios, Dale Williams, production manager for CBS’ “Under the Dome,” Jason Rosin, business agent for IATSE Local 491, and Susan Ruskin, dean of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts’ film school.
