Cucalorus Reaches Out to the Community

Bet you didn’t know about the hundreds of kids who pile into theater seats every year to screen shorts and talk with visiting international filmmakers for the Cucalorus Outreach Program. They do!

Over 700 area elementary-school kids flock to Media Literacy to screen age-appropriate shorts and learn critical thinking skills to help them understand the media all around them.
At the same time Global Perspectives offers a space for area high-school students to screen international shorts from Cucalorus as well as meet the visiting filmmakers. These international subjects and artists help bring a world-wide perspective right here to the Cape Fear Region and to these young scholar’s doorstep.
Thanks to the Landfall Foundation and North Carolina Arts Council for making these 2010 programs possible.
