Join us after Thursday’s 4:15pm screening of RUMBLE: The Indians Who Rocked the World at Hi-Wire Brewing for a performance from NC Native Charly Lowry who appears in the film. The film screening and musical performance are sponsored by the Lumbee Film Festival.
Charly Lowry, is a proud Lumbee/Tuscarora musical powerhouse from Pembroke, NC, best known as a semi-finalist on American Idol. Studying Motown, Pura Fé, and southern gospel, Charly has established a career playing acoustic/electric guitar and Native American hand-drum (an instrument traditionally barred from Native women). As an Artivist, she raises awareness around issues plaguing underdeveloped and underserved communities and centers the plight of her people in her performances. Charly celebrates the diversity of the southern, rural swamps of her home, Robeson County, in all aspects of her life. Her recent project, “CHARLY”, focuses on increasing global Indigenous visibility; revitalizing and preserving culture, whilst exploring various music genres.
This event is FREE and open to the public. No ticket required.
