Bio
Laura Hart McKinny, President of Stone’s Throw Films, is a Screenwriting Professor and a member of the founding faculty at the University of North Carolina, School of the Arts, School of Filmmaking. Recipient of Writer’s Guild of America, East Foundation Fellowship Grant for an original screenplay. MFA in Creative Writing, Queens University of Charlotte. Recently published a novel, Men Against Women. Screenwriter of One in Eight, Writer and co-producer of feature documentary, In Broad Daylight; co-writer/producer of feature documentary, Remembering Frederic: The Life of a Genius. Producer of Susie’s Hope, a feature. Co-writer, director and producer of numerous short documentaries, including the most recent “Extraordinary People.”
John McKinny, Stone’s Throw Films’ Creative Director and Vice-
President has worked as a production assistant, co-producer,
and script supervisor on numerous short films, industrials and
documentaries, including, “Up With People,” In Broad
Daylight,” “After Katrina: In the Trenches,” and “Remembering
Frederic: The Life of a Genius.” Most recently, he was lead
producer and LLC manager on a feature, Susie’s Hope; Writer-
Producer-Director for short documentaries, “Labor of Love: The
Healing Build,” airing on UNC-TV; “Hold on to Hope: Camp
Carousel,” and “Extraordinary People.” Recently, he was a field
producer on a reality show for Discovery Channel.
