Jengo's Playhouse

A duet dance for camera film, made on location in the Eureka dunes of Death Valley California. This work follows the journey of two figures traversing a kinetic and emotional landscape in the heart of a desert wilderness.

Bio

Scotty Hardwig is a dancer, choreographer and multimedia artist whose artistic practice melds an articulate, athletic movement vocabulary with elements of digital dance, photography, video, projection and sound design for live performance. As a freelance performer and company member for AXIS Dance Company, he has had the honor of working with internationally recognized choreographers like Marc Brew, Stephen Koester, Johannes Wieland, Joe Goode, Amy Seiwart, Eric Handman, Yannis Adoniou, Satu Hummasti, and Stephan Koplowitz. In addition to being a choreographer and performer, he is also an award-winning videodance maker and director, with his dance for camera works frequently screened internationally. As an educator, he has served on the faculty of Virginia Tech, the University of Utah, and Middlebury College, teaching contemporary technique and composition, improvisation, dance media, anatomy and kinesiology, aesthetic theory, and dance history. He received his MFA in Dance from the University of Utah, currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Movement, Performance and Integrated Media at Virginia Tech in his native Appalachian mountains of Southwest Virginia.
