The Carefree Prophet // Stephone Levar Brown & Preston Andrew Patterson :: The Carefree Prophet is a film about what it is to be perceived as carefree in a world where the tenuousness of your existence is made apparent constantly through various forms of media

Hell You Talmbout // Tyler Rabinowitz, Denzel Boyd, Joseph Webb :: In the wake of the country’s social and political current events, HELL YOU TALMBOUT artfully confronts police violence, racial discrimination and the Black Lives Matter movement through spoken word, tap dance, and most importantly, its impact as seen through the eyes of our youth. The inspirational young dancers of Seattle’s Northwest Tap Connection, a social justice-oriented dance studio, come together to confront the inescapable outrage that they feel living in a world plagued with injustices in the Black Community.

The Honeycomb Hideout, Pt.1 // Ebony Harris :: Being a woman isn’t easy. Brandy figures that out as she raises her two, younger sisters; all while working and finishing school. Some days she needs a break; a moment to release her frustrations and worry. That’s when she finds herself at The Honeycomb Hideout.

Yanvalou // Angeline Gragasin :: An awkward computer programmer learns to dance to impress his next-door neighbor. Named after a dance from the Afro-Haitian Vodoun tradition, Yanvalou is pure visual storytelling through image and action. Featuring choreography by master Haitian dancer Julio Jean.

New Hampshire // Dana Duren :: Dana Duren’s New Hampshire documents the freedom and purpose she feels when presented with the opportunity to play outside. This short dance film incorporates contemporary dance choreography, a candid performance quality, and an appreciation for ordinariness that all reflect the rejuvenating, yet grounding, impact of experiencing downtime, home, and the outdoors.

Chrysalis // Siqi Xu :: is an experimental short film that explores dance as a metaphor for personal discovery and self-acceptance. Structured as a journey, this live-action video of a dancer enhanced against a background of special effects conveys the emotional challenges that are overcome in life’s various stages. Loneliness and sadness are visualized through gesture and sound as inner turmoil is surmounted in a quest for harmony and self-awareness.

Hurricane // Carla Forte :: Hurricane is an experimental video that aims to take every individual to the “eye” of the self.

Stopgap in Stop Motion // Stephen Featherstone :: Photographs of performers in an inclusive dance company come to life. The individual artists dance out of the photos and across table tops until the whole company meet and perform in unison. The film combines live action and animation techniques.

Stick Bot Dance Off // Robin Soderena :: Stick Bots just keep on dancing.

Cubed // Mitchell Rose :: This digital dance-film—a cubist reimagining of the body—explores metaphors for human boundaries and separation.

Perhaps I Was T/Here // Geoff Marslett :: an experimental dance piece

Beach Dance // Brittany Reeber :: Lucy is trying to get comfortable at the beach.

Home Exercises // Sarah Friedland ::  A short dance film and hybrid doc investigating the gestural habits and choreographies of aging individuals at home.
