Two New Orleans paramedics’ lives are ripped apart after encountering a series of horrific deaths linked to a designer drug with otherworldly effects. Anthony Mackie plays Steve as he dives deeper into the wild side effects of the synthetic drug known as synchronic. He salvages the final remaining doses as he desperately tries to find his partner’s daughter, who goes missing after trying the drug. New Orleans serves as the perfect raw material for some trippy set design as Benson and Moorhead continue their playful investigation of genre in this mindbendingly crafty thriller – a brain busting jump into a world where time makes its own rules, and we’re just struggling to keep up.
