UNAPOLOGETIC captures a community of young Black women organizers confronting a Chicago administration complicit in state violence against its Black residents, with a focal point on campaigns to oust the city’s State’s Attorney, Police Superintendent, and Mayor.
Bio
Ashley Mills is a freelance DP and documentarian based in Chicago, IL. She has worked with a variety of brands, including Blavity, Ford Motor Company, Boost Mobile, and STATE Bags. She also recently served as the DP for PANGAEA, a short independent film depicting the life of a young girl 8 days after Hurricane Katrina, shot on location in New Orleans, LA. She graduated from Northwestern’s Film program in 2015, where she concentrated in cinematography and writing. Although she has crafted many short films, UNAPOLOGETIC serves as her first venture into the feature world, and she could not be more excited to portray this powerful narrative.
