Wilmington, NC- Cucalorus is excited to present a special screening of A Little Prayer on Sunday, September 28 at 4:00 p.m. at Jengo’s Playhouse. Tickets are $10 and available now at jengos.eventive.org.Produced by acclaimed North Carolina filmmaker Lauren Vilchik and written and directed by Winston-Salem native Angus MacLachlan, the film underscores the strength of the state’s creative community and prominently features highlights of the Piedmont region, including the Reynolda House in Winston-Salem.MacLachlan first gained national recognition with his short Tater Tomater, which premiered at Sundance in 1992, and later with the award-winning Junebug, which debuted at the festival in 2005. Vilchik, an independent producer and production attorney, has been recognized by the Independent Spirit Awards for “Outstanding Achievement for a Body of Work” and was named one of Variety’s “Top Ten Producers to Watch” in 2004.A Little Prayer follows Bill (David Strathairn), a respected Southern patriarch whose family is in quiet turmoil. His daughter Patti (Anna Camp) has returned home after a failed marriage, while his son David (Will Pullen) struggles in life and in the family business. Bill finds kinship with his contemplative daughter-in-law Tammy (Jane Levy), even as he begins to suspect David’s fidelity. What unfolds is a tender, searching portrait of love, loyalty, and the fragile bonds that hold families together.This special presentation reflects Cucalorus’ ongoing mission to celebrate North Carolina voices in cinema and to connect audiences with local filmmakers through bold and compelling storytelling.Catch A Little Prayer on Sunday, September 28 at 4:00 p.m. at Jengo’s Playhouse, followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Lauren Vilchik.
