As preparations ramp up for its 32nd annual film festival, Cucalorus Film Foundation is looking to expand its team with a variety of seasonal staff and volunteers to help bring this year's event to life.
The nonprofit organization is currently accepting applications for paid and volunteer positions supporting the 2026 Cucalorus Film Festival, which will take place Nov. 19-22 in downtown Wilmington.
Seasonal positions will begin at different times throughout the fall, with some operations roles starting as early as Aug. 15. Additional positions will begin in September, October and November as festival preparations intensify.
Available opportunities span a wide range of interests and experience levels. Roles include Backyard Manager, Bar Manager, Operations Associate, Print Traffic, Box Office Manager, Projectionists, Signage Coordinator, Lounge Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, Crowdfunding Coordinator, Tech Associates and Jengo's Playhouse Manager. Festival organizers say additional positions may become available as planning continues.
Applicants are asked to submit a resume and cover letter in PDF format to Dan Brawley at dan@cucalorus.org by July 22.
Each year, the Cucalorus Film Festival brings filmmakers, artists and audiences from around the world to Wilmington for four days of independent cinema and creative collaboration. The 2026 festival is expected to feature approximately 90 international and independent films, along with live performances, workshops, panel discussions and community events.
Known for fostering emerging artists and encouraging creative connections, Cucalorus has become one of the region's signature cultural events. Festival organizers say seasonal staff and volunteers play an essential role in creating the welcoming, community-driven experience that has defined the festival for more than three decades.
Those interested in joining the team are encouraged to apply before the July 22 deadline.
