Wilmington, NC- The Northside Food Co-op and Cucalorus Film Foundation are excited to announce Northside Movie Nights, a new outdoor film series with free, family-friendly screenings at Portia Mills Hines Park in downtown Wilmington. The series kicks off on Friday, September 27th at 5:30pm with a lively vendor market, free food provided by the co-op and a variety of rotating food and drink vendors each week. All movies begin just after sunset which will be around 7pm each evening. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets for the film screening.

Project manager Cierra Washington stated, “The Northside Food Co-op is so excited to support the Northside Movie Nights. We love any opportunity to create community cohesion through free family friendly events! We hope all our neighbors will get the chance to enjoy these.”

The film series launches with The Proud Family Movie, a fast-paced and comedic adventure between Penny and her family, as they are lured on an all expenses paid vacation and captured by a mad scientist.

You’ll be feeling all the different emotions with the adult-loved, yet kid-friendly and heartwarming Inside Out 2, screening on Friday, Oct. 11. Teenager Riley's mind undergoes a demolition to make room for Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation. However, no one is sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up.

The series wraps up on Friday, Oct. 25 with the award-winning Pixar classic, Coco, that will have you dancing in your Halloween costume! Miguel dreams of becoming a musician and finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead. Along the way, he sets off on an extraordinary journey with his friend Hector, to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history.

Northside Movie Nights is a partnership between Northside Food Co-op, Cucalorus Film Foundation, Wilson Center, the City of Wilmington and DREAMS Center for Arts Education. All outdoor screenings are free and open to the public, taking place at Portia Mills Hines Park. For a full schedule and additional information, visit jengos.eventive.org/schedule.
