Wilmington, NC- Cucalorus Film Foundation, in collaboration with The Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College, is thrilled to announce that internationally acclaimed comedian, musician, and improviser Reggie Watts will headline the closing night of the 31st annual Cucalorus Film Festival on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.Known for his one-of-a-kind blend of comedy and music, Watts uses only his voice, a keyboard, and a looping machine to create performances that are entirely improvised. He is best known as the former bandleader for The Late Late Show with James Corden and as a staple on IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang! Watts has also earned critical acclaim for his Netflix special Spatial, with The New York Times hailing him as “the most influential absurdist in comedy today.” His inventive style has made him a fan favorite at major festivals including Bonnaroo, SXSW, Bumbershoot, and Just For Laughs.“We’ve been pumped to support Cucalorus the past several years as sponsors, but having part of the festival in our space gives us all the feels,” said Wilson Center Executive Director Zach Pluer. “We’re honored to be part of this cultural institution in Wilmington and feel like Reggie Watts is the perfect choice to unite our two quirky organizations for an amazing night for our community.”In addition to his live performance, Watts’ voice will be featured in filmmaker Michael Langan’s short film The Last Cinnamon Roll, screening earlier in the festival.“Reggie really embodies so much of what makes Cucalorus special - that sense of not knowing what’s coming next, maybe being unsure of what exactly is happening, but always thought-provoking and inspiring in unexpected ways. I think Reggie is the perfect way to close out this year’s festival,” shared Cucalorus Executive Director Dan Brawley. The Grand Tier at the Wilson Center will be reserved exclusively for Pegasorus passholders. Early Worm Pegasorus Passes, offering all-access to every screening, performance, party, and secret social event during the five-day festival, are on sale now at cucalorus.eventive.org, with a limited-time $25 discount through September 31.Individual tickets will be available online to Wilson Center Members on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets go on sale online and in person to the general public on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. To avoid scams, only buy from the source at WilsonCenterTickets.com.
