Wilmington, NC- Cucalorus is excited to announce the Cucalorus Film Conference, to be held during the 31st annual Cucalorus Film Festival, taking place November 19–23, 2025. This new two-day conference is a bold expansion of the festival’s commitment to supporting independent filmmakers and growing the local film economy. The 2025 Cucalorus Film Conference will offer a series of interactive workshops and professional development sessions covering key aspects of independent filmmaking – including casting, lighting, fundraising, budgeting, stunts, and more. The program is designed to strengthen the independent film community by connecting emerging creators with industry leaders in a hands-on, skill-sharing environment. Confirmed speakers include Emily Best, film producer, entrepreneur, and founder and CEO of Seed&Spark; Lawson Sitterding, head of lighting at Cinespace; and Ron Fallica and Allie McCulloch, experienced actors, filmmakers, and co-founders of Actor’s Arsenal. These are just a few of the accomplished professionals who will share their expertise, with additional featured speakers to be announced in the coming months.“As a filmmaker, I know how transformative it is to be surrounded by fellow creatives and industry professionals who have a little more experience in their respective fields,” said conference coordinator Megan Petersen. “The Cucalorus Film Conference is about bringing those people together with emerging visual artists to share knowledge, spark new ideas, and build the kind of connections that make films possible.”To bring this new initiative to life, Cucalorus is inviting local businesses and community partners to become sponsors. Sponsorship opportunities come with exclusive benefits, including VIP Pegasorus passes (providing access to all festival screenings and events), logo recognition at every film showing, and invitations to signature gatherings like the Filmmakers Party, Jengo’s Backyard, and the Filmmakers Lounge. Sponsors will also gain the opportunity to engage with rising creative talent while aligning their brand with one of the Southeast’s most distinctive cultural festivals. This is a pivotal moment to support Cucalorus and help shape a new chapter in the festival’s evolution, while also supporting the efforts of the local film industry. Sponsorship packages are customizable and crafted to maximize visibility, engagement, and community impact. To learn more about sponsorship opportunities, contact Dan Brawley at dan@cucalorus.org.
