Surfalorus Seeks New Surf Films for Outer Banks Celebration

11th Annual Surfalorus Film Fest runs September 19-21 during the Easterns

NC Aquariums presents the 11th annual Surfalorus Film Festival, a three-day event showcasing the year’s best surf films with a series of sunset screenings at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head, NC. Surfalorus takes place in conjunction with the Eastern Surf Championships and features the best surf movies of the year, some laid-back parties, and the hottest waves of the season. The festival has a history of bringing the work of surf legends like photographer Jeff Divine and groundbreaking filmmaker George Greenough to audiences in North Carolina. The 11th annual Surfalorus Film Festival seeks new surf films celebrating the sport as well as our oceans and the bold, creative makers who bring these stories to life. Submit a film before the final deadline of May 19!

Surfalorus Chief Instigating Officer Dan Brawley shared, “I think the two most exciting things about Surfalorus this year are our growing relationships with the NC Aquariums and the Eastern Surfing Association. We’ve already received a record number of submissions, so the final schedule promises to be filled with rad new flicks from the next generation of filmmakers - telling fascinating stories about surfers around the world.”

The festival’s mission is to showcase the most talented surf filmmakers of our time. Alumni include: Cyrus Sutton, J. Brother, Richard Yelland, Nathan Oldfield, and a new wave of female surf filmmakers like Crystal Thornburg-Homcy, Devyn Bisson, Lauren Hill, Luca Merli, Jess Lowcher, Leah Dawson and Jordyn Romero.
