Cucalorus presents one-night-only screening of cult horror hit

After random strangers begin appearing outside, staring at the old building in an unsettling trance, the two are delighted to find themselves in a real-life scary story.An instant favorite from TIFF, Sitges, and the “Convulsions” sidebar at Cucalorus 30, this darkly funny chiller literally must be experienced on the big screen. The filmmakers have sworn it will never be released online, making this a rare event for fans of bold, risk-taking cinema.Following the Convulsions premiere, filmmakers Rachel Kempf and Nick Toti held a real auction for the film’s shooting location: a haunted duplex in Missouri. Two audience members, Zoë Ligon (a nationally known sex educator) and Lyndsay Rae, placed the winning bid of just $1,000.
